ao - view/room is another excellent release on mimi. In view/room, ao uses slow chord changes, bridging static and ambient sounds, to create incredibly elegant compositions. Each track seems like a different direction, with similar themes but varying emotions.
Acre4 - Rockspeed reminds me of older Warp releases by people like Blackdog. Acre4 use simple sounds, like vibes and pianos, with whimsical melodies and samples that fans of Lemonjelly will appreciate (try listening to Number 22).
This is my 100th post on this weblog. So far, writing here has encouraged friends to listen to more netlabel releases, something which I consider important, and it’s also allowed me to get in touch with some of the musicians I write about. Despite these artists occasionally writing to thank me for my positive reviews, I’d rather thank them for being kind enough to release their music for free. Their music has really brightened up my days in the office, and inspired me to keep writing my own music!
